00SummaryThe Recreational Activity Supervisor is responsible for directing the recreation staff and residents engaged in recreational activities.
This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
FunctionsLeads and provides guidance to subordinate staff by establishing work plans, timeframes, and/or deadlines, staff assignments, and resolving difficult or complex problems to ensure accurate and effective application of policies, rules, or precedents.
Supervises, plans, and organizes recreational activities by reserving vehicles and acquiring tickets for events, determining amount of staff needed, and posting schedules of activities.
Develops and/or modifies programs or games, as necessary, to permit participation by disabled and/or restricted residents, sets up recreational equipment for needed activities, and recruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors volunteers for activities.
Teaches physical education classes to residents, and trains, coaches, and organizes special Olympic games.
Monitors and documents resident's behavior and progress during recreational activities.
Inventories and checks recreational equipment to ensure proper working order, and maintains recreation rooms by spot cleaning and securing equipment.
Drives various vehicles to transport residents to and from recreational activities, including ballgames, restaurants, picnics, and other outings.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsThe formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, physical education, or a related field.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
